La courbe

2022

La courbe takes the form of a plaster mould made from a curved mattress. The work began from an observation in the streets of Paris: a mattress placed in a very narrow space, unable to unfold completely, forced to bend in order to fit its surroundings.

By preserving this curve in plaster, the work transforms a temporary condition into a physical structure. The mattress becomes a trace of compromise between the body and the space available to it — a form shaped by constraint, adaptation and a form shaped by constraint, adaptation and the fragile conditions of rest.
