Next Doors

Next Doors is a photographic project developed in and around my student residence in Caen, during my first years in France. Arriving from India and still unfamiliar with the city, the building, its surroundings and my neighbours became my first environment of orientation.

During the period of lockdown, I began spending more time inside the residence and gradually meeting the people who lived around me. Photography became a way to approach them, to enter into conversation, and to understand the building not only as a place of residence, but as a shared social space.
