Talismans

2023

I painted the objects I carried with me from India.

Each object has a personal significance for me. I think of them as talismans: remnants of where I came from and anchors within my experience of displacement.

By removing the objects from their everyday context and painting them alone, I let them hold memory, culture and belonging. Their intimate scale asks for a slow and close encounter.
