Portraits

2026

I paint from blurred screenshots of video calls with my mother, then partially remove the image.

The technological image is already unstable: compressed, interrupted and altered by the distance between us. I translate it into oil on wood, then use acetone to dissolve and erase parts of the painted surface.

The face moves between recognition and disappearance. The removal is not an after-effect; it is a way of working through a relationship to home that can no longer be approached as a complete image.
